Meditation: Entrusting the Journey

Lord, I do not know the hour or the manner of my leaving this world.

And while I trust You with what lies beyond,

I confess that the road to that moment troubles me.

I do not ask to avoid death—for I know it is the doorway home—

but I ask for Your mercy in the journey.

Spare me, if You will, a long and lonely decline.

And if the path is slow,

then fill those days with Your presence so thick and real

that fear will find no room to settle.

Remind me that my dignity is not measured by my strength,

nor my value by my independence.

I am Yours—whether I walk or am carried,

whether my mind is sharp or clouded,

whether my voice is strong or only whispers Your name.

When the time comes,

let my last breath be not a gasp of fear

but a sigh of trust.

And let me find in that final moment

the One who has carried me all the way home.

Amen.
